Purple Food. Funtimes :)

Will anyone ever tire of food that is a different colour to what we are used to?

We genuinely hope not, after all what could possibly be more fun than purple chips or, the most entertaining thing for a vegetable-repelling baby (or grown up); purple mash.

Fortunately, with this range of beauties, we can indulge in our funky coloured food without once having to compromise on taste or providence;

 These French 'Truffe de Chine' potatoes keep their colour when cooked.

Purple carrots grown in Preston,

Purple Cauliflower grown in Preston, less paintbox than the supermarket version, we love this one for its lovely colour and amazing flavour.

Red Curly Kale, locally grown.

All of the above are in stock and available for delivery...as ever, for info and prices, call our lovely team.

Beauty Contest...Pageant continues

More gorgeous stuff, really, what more can we say...

Golden Raspberries, all the way from sunny...Kent?!? Slightly sharper than than those flashy pink rasps, these subtle lovelies work well across the board...

And these UK grown Heritage Tomatoes have come bumping into stock today, they taste the business and, obviously, look fab...

We have local produce coming out of our (cauliflower) ears...

Beautiful, bright green Runner beans from Tarporley, rather lovely to look at as well as to eat, always a bonus we find :) Not sure what they are doing over there at the moment but they do keep rolling in the produce and its impressing time and again!

Also chipping up nicely this morning, our very own Lancashire growers with this Romanesque, whilst we do feel guilty ignoring its slightly less glamorous sister the plain old white cauliflower, well, what can we say;

Not to be outdone in this mornings little beauty contest, the boys down in Evesham have cropped up these little diamonds, good looking enough to put in a vase, these taste unbelievable and are plentiful at the moment...

And finally. The pick of the crop, first in their class, blue ribboned;

As ever, for more information, prices and ordering, call our lovely office staff. (the last two aren't for sale...sorry :) )

Un petit peu de la Français à Manchester

Taking a trip over to Provence this morning (wishful thinking, we're in the chiller...) with these beautiful Muscat Pumpkins. As pretty as a picture inside and out, their sweetish orange flesh deserves a little more love than your average hallowe'en  pumpkin, but we think they would still look pretty sexy on the countertop;

Continuing in the French vein, this beautiful Camargue purple garlic is another one that looks too good to start chopping away at,

As ever, prices and information available with our lovely office,

Fish Market Trip

Also took a sneaky trip to the fish market this morning, it's rare that I make it up early enough to catch this but this morning I did and these are some of the spoils!

Red Tilapia, getting more and more common on menus across the country;

Some Beautiful Scallops in the Shell;

And the lovely Raving Dave at Big Fish Little Fish with some equally lovely Lemon Sole;

The Figs have landed!

Gorgeous Turkish figs, fresh into market this morning;

Now we would usually have these with a little honey, perhaps some yoghurt maybe some cheese; but these little beauties? Out of the box, in the market, juice on our chins...this is the way fruit should taste.

Also this morning, fresh Tamara dates,

And Wine Grapes, spilling out of their Montepulciano d'Abruzzo stamped wooden crates just waiting to be smushed into wine or as Jamie Oliver suggests, frozen and served with good quality dark chocolate shavings. Hungry anyone?
